A high-level Indian delegation, led by Raja Bhanu, Director General of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), along with India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Shri Suresh K. Reddy, visited Cairo on Sunday. The team met with leaders in Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector to boost cooperation and look at new trade and investment opportunities.
The delegation worked on partnerships in generics, biosimilars, and vaccines. Egypt’s pharma market is growing, offering good opportunities.
Commenting on the visit, Ambassador Reddy said, “India has long been a trusted partner in the global pharmaceutical sector, and Egypt’s healthcare industry offers a great opportunity for closer collaboration.” The Embassy is committed to facilitating partnerships that benefit both nations and the wider MENA region.”
Raja Bhanu emphasized India’s support for Egypt’s healthcare goals, noting, “Indian pharmaceutical companies are well-positioned to collaborate with Egyptian counterparts to expand healthcare coverage and strengthen local manufacturing, ensuring better access to essential medicines.”
The cooperation aims to advance several priority areas, including generic medicines, biotechnology, clinical research, and vaccine production. Both countries are looking at joint ventures in manufacturing and research, aiming to make Egypt a regional center for pharmaceutical production and trade.
